Episode 32: The Bridge of Montereau

After the Burgundian seizure of Paris in 1418 the Armagnac Party reformed under the leadership of Dauphin Charles. The next year saw the civil war continue but as the English gained more territory in France pressure mounted in both the Burgundian and Dauphinist camps to make peace. Negotiations between the two sides ended abruptly in September of 1419 when agents of the Dauphin killed John the Fearless on the Bridge of Montereau.

After years of Civil War John the Fearless and Dauphin Charles met on a bridge over the Yonne River to make peace…
